Dr Livarda is participating in an exciting education programme organised by the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat of Catalonia, addressed to students of the 5th grade of primary schools. The aims of this project are to make science accessible to kids, increase creativity and teamwork, promote women in science, and familiarise kids with the research in Catalonia around the different European Union Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This year the chosen topic is ‘sustainable food’ related to the following SDGs:

Active women scientists from across high education and research centres in Catalonia working on different aspects of ‘sustainable food’ were matched with primary schools from across the autonomous community. Dr Livarda was matched with the education centre Tres Fonts de les Corts in Barcelona, starting a series of visits for the kids to get to know her and her research. The matching worked really well; the scientist, the teachers and the kids had a lot of fun together, the latter getting to know a generally little-known aspect of archaeological science, the archaeology of food and archaeobotany, and how these can be used to make a better world!
The first ‘seeds’ have been now sown to provide inspiration for the creation of a videogame based on the personality of Dr Livarda and her research!
The competition will end on the 29th of May 2025 when the winner will be announced.
Watch out this space to follow the collaboration between Dr Livarda and the Tres Fonts de les Corts!
