Dr Alexandra Livarda visited the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at Sofia between the 12th and 15th of May after an invitation by the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research and the National Archaeological Institute & Museum. She was warmly received by Dr Kaloyan Pramatarov, Dr Nataliya Ivanova and Dr Mila Andonova who have been excellent hosts throughout.
Dr Livarda delivered a talk on results of her I+D project ‘The agricultural economy of the Aegean ‘Dark Ages’ through machine learning-powered 3D cereal grain morphometrics (DarkAegean)’ at the National Archaeological Institute & Museum (NAIM) after a visit to the impressive Archaeological Museum of Sofia.
During her stay she worked with Dr Mila Andonova and her team at the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research where new research synergies were discussed and planned and previous common work was advanced.


They also celebrated the publication during the same week of the collaborative work with Dr Mila Andonova on the archaeobotany of Serdica. The paper was published Open Access as follows:
