Alexandra Kriti, PhD candidate at GIAP (ICAC), happily reports on her new grant:
“I have recently been awarded the Small Research Grant of the Association for Environmental Archaeology (AEA).
Every year, the AEA is offering a small number of grants to fund specific aspects of research projects concerning any area of environmental archaeology. The grant applications are open to all AEA members, and they are awarded based on competitive and strict evaluation criteria.
All grant recipients are required to submit a grant report regarding the use, benefits, impact indicators and research results of the grant received.
In my case, I have been awarded 600 euros, which will help to fund my participation at TEFRA’s pyre experiments that took place in Crete (1-2nd of April 2023), and my visit at the University of Crete to disseminate the results of my PhD research to the staff and students of the Department of Archaeology (31st of March 2023).
As a self-funded PhD candidate, every contribution takes me a long way, and therefore I am honoured and grateful to have been awarded a small yet prestigious grant as such.
Now I am looking forward to disseminating the results of the funded activities in the forthcoming AEA Conference, which will be hosted by ICAC in Tarragona, Spain!”
