Archaeozoology team at GIAP: new incorporation!

Carles Naval, student of the MACA Master programme (URV-ICAC-UAB), has joined the archaezoological team of GIAP. He has started his training under the supervision of Dr Lídia Colominas to develop a master’s thesis. It will be focused on the study of animal husbandry at Serrat del Castellar, an Iron Age site located in the core of the eastern Pyrenes. The project will be co-directed by Dr Joan Oller (UAB), principal investigator of the excavations at the site.

In these first weeks of training, he has already made a surprising find due to its uniqueness! He has documented a fragment of a fibula from a brown bear (image below!) that was most likely hunted by the inhabitants of Serrat del Castellar.

Welcome Carles to the team!!
