This Monday, April 20th, Dr. Faidon Moudopoulos-Athanasiou, Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellow in GIAP (ICAC), presented in the “Stone Masonry Workshop“, organised by the CRISIS research laboratory of the Department of Architectural Engineering of the University of Ioannina, in collaboration with the Boulouki group and the Municipality of Konitsa (Greece).
“The (in)visible heritage of the Others”

The subject of the talk is the current and particularly interesting issue of the Ottoman heritage, seen in the light of its local Konichiot expressions. As an opening line of the issue, the theoretical reflection on how the monuments and ruins of this period are placed in the general context of cultural heritage is posed. Using the concepts of “difficult” but also “secret” heritage, an attempt is made to integrate the monuments of Ottoman Konitsa into the specific context. Emphasis is placed on the visible and invisible remains of this heritage; the visible remains of the monuments as well as the intangible memories of Konitsa as reflected in the writings of local scholars.
Dr. Faidon Moudopoulos-Athanasiou is a postdoctoral fellow with the project Heritage under young forests: recording and interpreting the cultureal heritage underneath the afforested Zagori (NW Greece). Juan de la Cierva (FJC2021-047943-I), funded by the the Agencia Estatal de Investigación of the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, the European Union-NextGenerationEU in the context of the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia.

Αντικείμενο της ομιλίας είναι το επίκαιρο και ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρον ζήτημα της οθωμανικής κληρονομιάς, ιδωμένο υπό το πρίσμα των τοπικών κονιτσιώτικων εκφράσεών της. Ως εναρκτήρια γραμμή του ζητήματος τίθεται ο θεωρητικός προβληματισμός για το πώς στοιχειοθετούνται τα μνημεία και τα ερείπια αυτής της περιόδου στο γενικότερο πλαίσιο της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς. Χρησιμοποιώντας τις έννοιες της «δύσκολης» αλλά και «υπόρρητης» κληρονομιάς γίνεται μία προσπάθεια ένταξης των μνημείων της οθωμανικής Κόνιτσας στο συγκεκριμένο πλαίσιο. Δίνεται έμφαση στα ορατά και αόρατα κατάλοιπα αυτής της κληρονομιάς· στα ορατά κατάλοιπα των μνημείων καθώς και τις άυλες μνήμες της Κόνιτσας όπως αυτές αποτυπώνονται στις γραφές των τοπικών λογίων.
