Artificial Intelligence and Cultural Heritage: Current Applications and Future Perspectives.
Brief Synopsis
The last seven years have seen an exponential increase in studies dedicated to the application of methods from the field of artificial intelligence, particularly the so-called machine learning and deep learning, to the detection, study, and protection of cultural heritage. In this lecture, the functioning of these types of algorithms will be explained, and through practical examples, the advantages and challenges of their application to cultural heritage will be examined.
Brief CV
Hèctor A. Orengo is an ICREA Research Professor at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where he leads the Computational Archaeology Team, and at the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology, where he co-directs the Landscape Archaeology Research Group. His work focuses on studying the interactions between past societies and their environments using computational tools that include GIS, remote sensing, predictive models, and machine learning.
