Seeds and Other Carporemains: Markets, Food, and Urban Industry

We are excited to participate in the “Sessions Formatives Arqueoborn-II: Arqueologia i Arqueobiologia Urbana a Barcelona” (Arqueoborn-II Training Sessions: Urban Archaeology and Archaeobiology in Barcelona) organized by El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria (El Born CCM) with the “Llavors i altres carporrestes: mercats, alimentació i indústria urbana” (Seeds and Other Carporemains: Markets, Food, and Urban Industry), led by Alexandra Livarda.

About the event

El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria aims to provide a practical training program that offers a comprehensive education in archaeology, heritage, and memory from an urban perspective.

Urban archaeology is an increasingly significant field with diverse applications in urban management, heritage preservation, collective memory, and research. However, the specific theoretical approaches and methodologies required for archaeological interventions in urban areas are not typically covered comprehensively in university studies. Barcelona has been a pioneering city in training professionals in urban archaeology, with a notable emphasis on student involvement in the archaeological intervention at El Born.

The training program spans two consecutive years: in 2022, the Arqueoborn-I Training Sessions focused on the foundations of urban archaeology, and this year, the Arqueoborn-II Training Sessions: Urban Archaeology and Archaeobiology in Barcelona are being organized.
